Fire Chief Dan Marshall

Fire Chief Dan Marshall has over 30 years of fire service experience, a comprehensive educational background and has been the Fire Chief at Jackson County Fire District 5 since 1985.

Dan began his fire service career in 1971 with Fire District 5. In 1979 he left southern Oregon for a Fire Captain position in Dhaharan, Saudi Arabia. During his time in Saudi Arabia, Chief Marshall worked for Morrison – Knudsen Corporation, which was one of several contractors involved in the building of King Khalid Military City.

 

In 1980 Dan moved to Sutherlin, Oregon, where he took a position of Fire Captain / Training Officer for a period of approximately eighteen months. In 1981 Chief Marshall returned to Fire District 5 as Battalion Chief in charge of training. In 1985 Dan was promoted to Fire Chief.

 

Currently, Chief Marshall is in charge of planning, leading and directing the operations of a combined city and rural Fire District that covers approximately 115 square miles, has 2 stations, 22 paid personnel, 30 volunteers, and which provides fire and life safety services to approximately 17,000 residents in the southern Oregon area.
