Child Safety Seats

Oregon law requires any person who weighs less than 60 pounds and is under six years old must be properly secured with a child safety system while riding in a vehicle. When a child reaches four years old or 40 pounds, a booster seat must be used so that the auto's safety belt or harness fits properly.

Fire District 5 has certified Child Safety Seat Technicians on staff to check your child's safety seat and see that there are no recalls on them. Call ahead to set up an inspection time, and bring your child if possible. We'll make sure the straps are exactly tight enough for your child and everything fits the way it's supposed to.

If you live outside our District, call the Rogue Valley Child Safety Seat Coalition at 774-6809 for information (they can also provide affordable safety seats if needed) or call your local Fire Department.
